I can also travel with less gear and it still holds it's shape. It took me about eight years to find a storage system that suited my needs. I absolutely love this product. Thisnis the second bag though. The first one had some sticking in the side pocket that was coming off. I contacted the company and they sent me another one along with a paid return address label for my old one. Good customer service and a great product. Would buy again but doubt I'll ever need to.

The shoulder strap and waist belt work well to hold the bag against your body (behind you or at your side), and with a little loosening, you can even move the bag around your waist to get better access to the various compartments. The only flaw that I have found in this bag is the water bottle holder. It's a tight fit for a regular 500 ml. bottle of water.

I used it last weekend in Crystal River and it worked perfect. I put my pliers sheath on the belt, hooked the carabiner to my dehooker and it slid right into the belt look, the large pocket fit 20lb leader, popping cork, pro=cure in the waterbottle holder, a bag of paddle tails, bag of shads, small tackle box with jigs, hooks, swivels, and sinkers with plenty of room. I put my little digital weight scale and tape in the smaller front pouch and my keys and wallet in the back pouch. It was perfect for what I wanted. It seems well built so far and serves its job well.

For reference, I can fit 5-6 packs of soft plastics in the larger front pouch and my scissor and pliers in the smaller front pouch. The side pockets fit (tightly) 3 ~125 yd spools of line.

This is a quality product if you like to hike into fishing spots.
