Jeff “Gussy” Gustafson went wire to wire on the Tennessee River and won the 2023 Bassmaster Classic fishing tournament. Curiously, it’s the same location where Gussy won his first Elite Series event in 2021. There’s something about this guy and Smallmouth Bass that makes him a mainstay on the Elite Series since he joined a few years ago.
He’s one of a group of guys from Canada that are making noise on the Elite Series now. And Jeff’s the second International Bassmaster Classic winner, and the first one from Canada. Jeff made the comment after winning, “This is my Stanley Cup”. So of course, he’s trying to figure out how to drink from the Classic Trophy.
In 43 tournaments in Gussy’s pro fishing career, would you believe he’s finished in the money 42 times, an amazing record.
Watch the video of Jeff’s post-event press conference, with Jeff talking about his winning technique and what he used to win.
